On January 26, 2024, Dr. Evdokia Krystallidou, Director of the Innovation and Impact HUB of the American School of Agriculture, participated as a keynote speaker at the third Dairy Conference held in Athens. The topic of the panel discussion in which Dr. Krystallidou was “Digital transformation in the dairy industry and the milk zone”. Its participation reflects the importance given to science and innovation in the dairy sector.
The topic of digital transformation is one of the main issues not only for the dairy industry but also for the food industry in general. In this context, Dr. Krystallidou presented the HORIZON project TERMINET (nexT gEneRation sMart INterconnectEd ioT) as an indicative example of digital transformation in the agri-food sector.
TERMINET develops an innovative and distributed Artificial Intelligence solution, using Federated Learning (FL) techniques. This project leverages a large number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and massive amounts of data to produce meaningful results. The presentation of this project confirmed the commitment of the American College of Agriculture and the Innovation and Impact HUB to bring digital transformation to the Agri-Food Sector, as they are leaders of Use Case 1 on “User-Centric Devices in Smart Farming”.
The presence of Dr. Evdokias Krystallidou at the Dairy Conference represented an important contribution to the debate on the future of the dairy industry and agriculture, strengthening the connection between technology and the farming community for a more efficient and sustainable food production.
