Held at The Claridge in Brussels, the EUCloudEdgeIoT Open Continuum Conference brought together leading projects and experts within the Cloud Edge IoT domain. TERMINET stood out among 50 projects, earning one of the five coveted awards presented during the event.

TERMINET’s recognition is based on several key accomplishments, including:

Seamless Interconnection: Enabling seamless communication between ad-hoc IoTs and edge/core processing islands via a programmable SDN fabric.
IoT Landscape Management: Addressing heterogeneity and data volume through hardware abstraction and semantic enablement provided by popular cloud orchestrators.
Efficient Processing: Facilitating efficient processing across the Edge-to-Core Cloud Continuum.

TERMINET project in Agrotica 2024

The TERMINET project (nexT gEneRation sMart INterconnectEd ioT) will participate in the international exhibition Agrotica together with the American Agricultural School, which will take place between February 1 and 4, 2024 in Thessaloniki. Agrotica is the largest trade fair for agricultural machinery, equipment and supplies in the Balkans and the South-East Mediterranean and one of the five most important primary sector fairs in Europe. As in previous years, the exhibition is expected to function as a key meeting and networking place for agricultural operators and exhibitors, and as a field for scientific discussion on industry issues.

Agrotica will be held at the HELEXPO TIF facilities and the TERMINET project will be presented in Pavilion 2, Stand 31 of the American School of Agriculture.

TERMINET at InoFA cluster

TERMINET (nexT gEneRation sMart INterconnectEd ioT) project successfully participated in an event organized by the InoFA cluster, highlighting its role in the digital transformation of the food supply chain. The event took place at the “Diamelas Kreopoleio” restaurant, a member of the InoFA cluster, and was a valuable opportunity to inform InoFA members about the technological innovations that promote the development of the sector.

InoFA (Internet of Food Alliance) is an Innovation Collaborative that brings together research institutions, educational institutions, technology providers and businesses operating across the agri-food supply chain. The purpose of InoFA is to support the digital transformation of the agricultural and supply chain, promoting the adoption of high technology in the traditional professions associated with food production and the supply chain.

At this event, the TERMINET project made an important presentation highlighting the importance of innovation in the agriculture and food production sector. TERMINET’s platform and the necessary data collection equipment were presented as critical factors in achieving this digital transformation. The Federated Learning (FL) technique used by TERMINET enables the exploitation of a large number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and huge amounts of data to produce high-quality performances.

The American College of Agriculture, through the Innovation and Impact HUB, are leaders of Use Case 1 on “User-Centric Devices in Smart Farming”. TERMINET’s presence at the InoFA event reflects the close collaboration between science, technology and the agricultural sector to create a sustainable and innovative agricultural production.

TERMINET at the 3rd Dairy Conference

On January 26, 2024, Dr. Evdokia Krystallidou, Director of the Innovation and Impact HUB of the American School of Agriculture, participated as a keynote speaker at the third Dairy Conference held in Athens. The topic of the panel discussion in which Dr. Krystallidou was “Digital transformation in the dairy industry and the milk zone”. Its participation reflects the importance given to science and innovation in the dairy sector.

The topic of digital transformation is one of the main issues not only for the dairy industry but also for the food industry in general. In this context, Dr. Krystallidou presented the HORIZON project TERMINET (nexT gEneRation sMart INterconnectEd ioT) as an indicative example of digital transformation in the agri-food sector.

TERMINET develops an innovative and distributed Artificial Intelligence solution, using Federated Learning (FL) techniques. This project leverages a large number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and massive amounts of data to produce meaningful results. The presentation of this project confirmed the commitment of the American College of Agriculture and the Innovation and Impact HUB to bring digital transformation to the Agri-Food Sector, as they are leaders of Use Case 1 on “User-Centric Devices in Smart Farming”.

The presence of Dr. Evdokias Krystallidou at the Dairy Conference represented an important contribution to the debate on the future of the dairy industry and agriculture, strengthening the connection between technology and the farming community for a more efficient and sustainable food production.

TERMINET at the 1st Agricultural Entrepreneurship Conference in Lamia

On Sunday, January 21, the Chamber of Fthiotida organized the first Agribusiness Conference in the city of Lamia, entitled “The wealth of Fthiotida land in the foreground for a sustainable future”. Dr. Evdokia Krystallidou, Director of the Innovation and Impact HUB of the American School of Agriculture, was one of the keynote speakers, presenting the TERMINET project during the 4th panel.

The 4th panel was entitled “From the field to the shelf. Outsourcing processes and actions that guarantee success”, and was a space for discussion and exchange of views on the development of sustainable businesses in the agricultural sector. Dr. Krystallidou offered her experience and knowledge of innovation and rural development.

In her presentation, Dr. Krystallidou focused on the TERMINET (nexT gEneRation sMart INterconnectEd ioT) project. TERMINET is an innovative and distributed artificial intelligence solution using Federated Learning (FL) techniques. This project leverages a large number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and massive amounts of data to produce meaningful results.

The USDA, and in particular the Innovation and Impact HUB, is leading Use Case 1 on “User-Centric Devices in Smart Farming”. This pioneering initiative seeks to combine technology and agricultural activity for more efficient and sustainable agriculture.

The presence of Dr. Evdokias Krystallidou at the conference highlights the importance of connecting science and innovation with the agricultural community, strengthening the dialogue for a sustainable and successful future in agricultural entrepreneurship.

NG-IoT Workshop on Standardization (update)

TERMINET organised an NGIoT cluster meeting on standardisation to share perspectives on standardisation across projects in the NGIoT cluster and to discuss recommendations for future work. The meeting took place online on 21^nd November 2023. The following projects have participated: IntellIoT, VEDLIoT, ASSIST-IoT and TERMINET.

Installation of technological equipment and promotion of the TERMINET platform

On January 17, 2024, the Innovation and Impact HUB team of the American School of Agriculture paid a visit to Xanthi, in the context of strengthening efforts to promote technological innovation in the agricultural sector. During this visit, HUB representatives met with producers who are active members of the DigiMeat and Mountain Meat Business Groups.

The main objective of the visit was the installation of advanced technological equipment that will enhance the activities of producers. In particular, Digitanimal animal tracking devices were installed, which are part of the TERMINET project.

TERMINET (nexT gEneRation sMart INterconnectEd ioT) is developing an innovative and distributed Artificial Intelligence solution. Using Federated Learning (FL) techniques, this project leverages a large number of IoT devices and massive amounts of data to produce meaningful results.

During the meeting, HUB representatives presented the platform developed for the needs of TERMINET. It explained how the platform connects directly to the sensors and how this connection will benefit producers.

Digitanimal animal tracking devices enable producers to monitor the movement and health of their animals, thereby improving farm management. In addition, TERMINET’s platform allows producers to benefit from the aggregation and analysis of data, offering advanced solutions for animal husbandry.
